Why Chloe Kim is taking a mental health break before the next Olympics

You can’t be the best until you feel your absolute best.

At just 22 years old, Chloe Kim Two wins made America proud Olympics Gold medal in women’s half pipe. But more than five months after competing in Beijing, the athlete is pressing a break from competition and focusing on herself.

“Everyone’s mental health journey is different but for me, I admit how pretty difficult the past few years have been for me,” she shared exclusively with E! the news “Be it training, be it competition and I try to be as perfect as possible on the mountain.”

Chloe says she is “completely fine now” and is attending regular therapy. But after a well-deserved Olympic victory, the athlete just wanted to take a breather before returning to the mountain.

“It’s just knowing that it might be overwhelming if I just go back for another season,” she said. “I’m basically a bit cautious. I’m just putting myself first and just know that I can’t handle it right now. I’m taking some time off. I’m going on vacation. It will be good.”

At the same time, Chloe can’t help but still be a little competitive. On July 16, he attended the MGM Awards MLB All-Star Celebrity Softball Game. And on July 20, he will join 2022 ESPYSWhere he can win best sportsman in women’s action sports.
