Studies have shown that many young couples adopt pets instead of having children at home. Because they are not interested in having children of their own, they are content to be the parents of an animal instead. It’s a unique choice that none of us can question, but what if it’s like a child’s parents? I have seen many pet parents pretend that it is irresistible to take care of a pet. Having had the experience of raising a pet and having multiple children, I can clearly say that the two experiences are quite different.
If caring for a pet is difficult, raising your own child can be a daunting task.
Children are much harder than pets:
Parents of pets may not agree with this, but as I am experienced in raising pets and children, I can prove that raising a child is much more complicated. Mainly due to deadlines. When you get a dog, you just have to train them, feed them, walk them and play with them. But with a child, there are many more important responsibilities, such as education. It takes about 1 or 2 years for a dog to become an adult and independent, but it takes about 18 years for your child to become independent, which is a long time. This in itself indicates how raising a child is not a cup of cake.
Currently, I live with a Kakapu is an adult Dogs, which do a lot of work. Since this is a crossbreed between Cocker Spaniel and Poodle, I wasn’t sure about its size. Okay, as she got older I ended up with a standard sized cockpit. More work as a large sized dog; So I obviously have to invest a lot of time in my dog. She had some medical conditions that I had to deal with, but I would say it was still not as challenging as raising my baby. I love my dog, but it does a lot of work, especially walking the dog to the stage where it pulls tightly. Honestly, I assumed the kids were easy to walk because their dog did not have the physical strength and could be easily controlled. I couldn’t be more wrong.
Honestly, walking kids was a nightmare for which I wasn’t ready. It was a phobia of mine, mainly because I’m a very careful parent, which I think is mostly a new parent. Holding hands has been a rule for many years, and more than keeping my kids safe, it has given me much-needed peace of mind.
Especially with a new baby, every parent goes through this fear that the baby may get hurt. After all, they have learned that they cannot always be there to protect their child, and it is good for the child to learn some freedom. The child has to face all their fears and overcome them.
Knowing that your dog is going to be dependent on you forever, you can understand that you are raising a pet, but then you have to let it be independent, which means completely different rules.
Easy to control dog:
Training your pet At a young age make sure they obey you. Once you become their pack leader, that’s always the case. They will respect you and follow you forever.
Parents want kids to do the same thing, but it’s different. They have the ability to think and express themselves better; So as they grow they change their opinion of you and you cannot always be in a position of authority. Your child will be free to leave home one day. You will lose your speech in their life which may sound difficult, but you have to deal with it.
Your child will talk again:
The dog understands a certain set of commands. They cannot speak our language and therefore will never question us. When you throw a ball, your dog will always get it back just for you to compliment or give a treat and never question why you need to bring the ball back.
Well, having a baby is a little different. The kids are curious And when they are babies they will start asking you lots of questions. It can be difficult to answer them. As your child gets older, you will have more fights with them when they can talk. This is mainly when they are teenagers. As a parent you need to be prepared for all these stages of life. Pet caregivers are extremely complex in this regard.
A pet stays with you forever:
Here, forever, I mean until one of you survives. Once you get a pet, you know it’s not going anywhere. It’s a great relief, because it’s hard to see your loved one moving away. Sadly, your child will have to leave home one day to make ends meet. This can be a challenging stage as you grow this baby.
Pets receive ribbon training faster than babies:
This should have been highlighted here, as cleaning up after a potty accident is not a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, you have to clean up with a baby for a few years until the baby potty is trained. The good news about having a dog is that it can be trained in a few days. It took me 3 days to figure out where my dog was allowed to rest, which was one of the happiest moments of our lives.
If you’re trying to replace a kid with a pet, it’s not the same. You must have realized that parenting is much harder and more expensive. Having a pet parent doesn’t really make you an experienced parent. Just having a kid of your own will really give you a real experience.
