Baz Luhrmann, Doja Cat and More Stars Pay Tribute After Elvis Actress Listens

Elvis actress Shanka Duque is found dead

They are from the film Elvis grieving Actress Shanka Duquereh passes away.

“A special light today and all are extinguished Elvis The cinema family is saddened by the loss of Shonka Dukureh,” the director Baz Luhrmann Post wrote a tribute Instagram July 22. “From the moment she came into our world, Shonka brought joy, spirit and of course her voice and her music.”

Luhrmann then shared some memories of Duquesne, who played Big Mama Thornton in the film.

“Whenever he was on set, on stage or even just in the room, everyone always felt uplifted,” he continued. “Shonka was just starting to find a larger audience for her incredible talent, and I’ve seen her rise to prominence at Coachella and beyond.”

Recalling how “one of Shonker’s favorite words, in everyday use, was ‘blessing’,” the filmmaker explains how he and “the whole Elvis The cast, crew and musical collaborators, feel truly blessed to have spent time with him.” He concluded his message by sending “all our love and support to Shankar’s children at this time”.

Luhrmann wasn’t the only person in film to honor Duquesne. Austin Butlerwho played Elvis PresleyAnd Olivia Dijonwho portrayed Priscilla PresleyBoth shared Luhrmann’s message on their Instagram Stories, and Calvin Harrison Jr., who plays B.B. King, called Duquereh “a gift to all of us.”

Also, doja cat—whose song from the film “Vegas” featured Duquereh (with the two performing the track at Coachella)—expressed his condolences.
